What Can the MicroLaserPeel® Do?

Reduce Wrinkles and Scars

The laser treatment removes the uppermost layers of skin, where scars and fine lines primarily reside. By doing this, newer, healthier, and stronger skin is able to shine through.

This treatment effectively helps reduce fine lines, wrinkles, and scars (including acne scars).

Lessen Skin Discoloration

Skin discoloration, like birthmarks, sunspots, and freckles, is often concentrated in the uppermost layers of the skin. The Sciton® MicroLaserPeel® can target and reduce or remove these blemishes.

It may take several treatments before the blemishes and unwanted skin pigments are noticeably lessened.

What Does a MicroLaserPeel® Involve?

Step 1: Anesthetic

While preparing for your laser peel, your technician will identify the treatment area and apply a cooling cream. This cream will cool and numb your skin, increasing your comfort during the procedure.

You will also be fitted with eye protection for your safety.

Step 2: Laser Exfoliation

Your technician will place the laser applicator over the treatment area. This will take 45 to 60 minutes, depending on the size of the area and the nature of the skin concern.

The laser will damage the topmost layer of your skin (where discoloration and blemishes are most commonly found), causing it to peel over the following days and weeks to reveal new skin. The heat from the erbium laser may also help stimulate collagen growth in the new skin layers.

This treatment does not require needles or chemical agents.

What Happens After the MicroLaserPeel®?

Recovery

How Long Does the Recovery Take After a Sciton® MicroLaserPeel®?

You may experience mild skin redness, a burning sensation similar to a mild sunburn, and swelling. These symptoms are usually temporary and may be treated with cold compresses. Most patients feel recovered within three to four days; however, this period can be longer.

You should avoid direct sunlight for at least two weeks after your erbium laser treatment. This will stop ultraviolet rays from damaging your new skin. Your skin will be more sensitive and susceptible to damage initially. Maintaining good preventative sun practices is essential, including wearing hats and glasses and applying broad-spectrum sunscreen.

Results

When Will I See the Results of My Sciton® MicroLaserPeel®t?

Most patients will see their initial results within three to four days as the old skin peels away. Final results may take up to two weeks to become visible. Staying hydrated can help your results become apparent faster.

Pain

Will My MicroLaserPeel® Treatment Be Painful?

To help with discomfort, a numbing cream is applied before the treatment.

Patients commonly experience some temporary redness and irritation. Over-the-counter pain medications and cold compresses can be used following your MicroLaserPeel® to soothe the skin.
