Addressing Your Concerns

Recovery

Immediately following your surgery, you may experience some bruising and swelling. Some patients comment on a temporary discomfort caused by the new weight of the implants on the chest.

Most all patients will resume normal activity within a week following the procedure. Vigorous physical exercise may be resumed four to six weeks from the date of surgery. A special bra will be provided and should be worn day and night for the first two weeks.

Scars

Care is taken to place incisions in discreet locations, but scarring may develop.
The extent of visible scarring will depend on the type of incision used for your procedure.
Typically, periareolar or inframammary incisions result in scars that are only slightly
visible with time.

Cost

The cost of breast augmentation surgery is decided on a patient-by-patient basis. Surgical, facility, and anesthesia fees, as well as the type and size of your implants, will affect the cost of your procedure.

What type of implant options are available for my breast augmentation?

You have a choice between saline and silicone implants. Saline implants are a silicone shell filled with a saltwater solution. Silicone implants are created from a cohesive silicone gel, which best simulates natural breast tissue.
Where will my incisions be located?
Incision location is decided by you and your surgeon. The size and location of the incision will depend on the type of implant you choose and your aesthetic goals. Incision location options include:
- Inframammary: along the breast crease
- Periareolar: around the areola
- Transaxillary: in the armpit
Where is the implant pocket created?

A pocket is created to hold your implant in place. The pocket can be created in either the subglandular location (under the breast gland but over the pectoral muscle) or the submuscular location (under both the breast gland and the pectoral muscle).
What type of anesthesia is used for breast augmentation?

General anesthesia is used during breast augmentation to ensure patient safety and comfort.
How is implant size determined?

Implant size is based off your body type and your aesthetic goals. During the initial consultation, Dr. Bonaldi uses Vectra 3D imaging to evaluate each patient to help determine implant size and correct any symmetry issues.
What complications can develop after breast augmentation surgery?
While rare, complications can develop after surgery. These complications can include bleeding and infection. Other complications can develop either shortly after surgery or over a period of years, including:
- Capsular contracture
- Implant rupture
- Implant rippling
- Double-bubble deformity
- Bottoming out
