Breast Augmentation

Many women believe that full, voluptuous breasts are a symbol of femininity. Women with small breasts can sometimes feel that their breasts lack an attractive, sensual quality. Implants are used to increase the size and improve the shape of the breasts. Enhancing the breasts has helped hundreds of thousands of women reclaim their feminine curves and confidence.

Who Can Benefit?

Small Breasts

Those with naturally small breasts with no pregnancy-related or age-related changes to the breasts.

These women are often younger than 30 years of age.

They have good skin elasticity and do not need a lift; they are generally ideal candidates for a standard breast augmentation.

Post-Pregnancy Breasts

Those with post-pregnancy breasts have lost breast volume following pregnancy and/or breastfeeding.

These women are usually between 25 and 40 years of age.

They are good candidates for a standard breast augmentation but may or may not have elasticity issues that require correction using a breast lift.

Deflated Breasts

Those with drooping breasts that are the result of weight loss or the natural aging process.

These women are often older than 30 years of age.

They have limited skin elasticity and typically require a breast lift in conjunction with their breast augmentation.

What do you desire?

More Symmetrical Breasts

For women who suffer from breast asymmetry, breast augmentation can help. Breast asymmetry occurs when one breast is a different size or shape than the other. This difference can be subtle or dramatic. Choosing implants of differing sizes and/or shapes can achieve breasts that are as close to the same size and shape as possible.

Pre-Baby Breasts

Pregnancy and nursing can take a toll on the quality of your breast tissue. Some women lose volume in the breasts, resulting in a stretched, empty breast appearance. Implants can increase the size of the breasts to restore the look and feel of your pre-baby breasts.

More Shapely Breasts

Some women with smaller breasts may feel that they also lack an attractive breast shape. Implants can be used to dramatically change the shape of the breasts. More defined cleavage and breast contours can be created during your breast augmentation.

A Natural Appearance

Women who desire natural-looking breasts should consider choosing silicone implants placed submuscularly. This combination best imitates the shape, look, and feel of natural breast tissue.

Confidence

A lack of sensual, feminine curves may cause you to lack confidence in your body as well. Restoring that confidence can help boost your self-esteem. Feeling comfortable and attractive in your body can impact how you hold and present yourself. Being happier with their bodies often allows women to feel more content in other areas of their lives.

Addressing Your Concerns

Recovery

Immediately following your surgery, you may experience some bruising and swelling. Some patients comment on a temporary discomfort caused by the new weight of the implants on the chest.

Most all patients will resume normal activity within a week following the procedure. Vigorous physical exercise may be resumed four to six weeks from the date of surgery. A special bra will be provided and should be worn day and night for the first two weeks.

Scars

Care is taken to place incisions in discreet locations, but scarring may develop.
The extent of visible scarring will depend on the type of incision used for your procedure.
Typically, periareolar or inframammary incisions result in scars that are only slightly
visible with time.

Cost

The cost of breast augmentation surgery is decided on a patient-by-patient basis. Surgical, facility, and anesthesia fees, as well as the type and size of your implants, will affect the cost of your procedure.

Pain

Many patients report only mild discomfort following their procedure. Oral medication is prescribed to treat any associated pain.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What type of implant options are available for my breast augmentation?

You have a choice between saline and silicone implants. Saline implants are a silicone shell filled with a saltwater solution. Silicone implants are created from a cohesive silicone gel, which best simulates natural breast tissue.

  • Where will my incisions be located?

Incision location is decided by you and your surgeon. The size and location of the incision will depend on the type of implant you choose and your aesthetic goals. Incision location options include:

    • Inframammary: along the breast crease
    • Periareolar: around the areola
    • Transaxillary: in the armpit
  • Where is the implant pocket created?

A pocket is created to hold your implant in place. The pocket can be created in either the subglandular location (under the breast gland but over the pectoral muscle) or the submuscular location (under both the breast gland and the pectoral muscle).

  • What type of anesthesia is used for breast augmentation?

General anesthesia is used during breast augmentation to ensure patient safety and comfort.

  • How is implant size determined?

Implant size is based off your body type and your aesthetic goals. During the initial consultation, Dr. Bonaldi uses Vectra 3D imaging to evaluate each patient to help determine implant size and correct any symmetry issues.

  • What complications can develop after breast augmentation surgery?

While rare, complications can develop after surgery. These complications can include bleeding and infection. Other complications can develop either shortly after surgery or over a period of years, including:

    • Capsular contracture
    • Implant rupture
    • Implant rippling
    • Double-bubble deformity
    • Bottoming out
